Shooter Star

Two Painful Diagnoses and One Noble Rescue Ranch

Shooter Star is a beautiful mare whose guardian is a precious 11 year old girl, Emily. Shooter was kicked in the face by another horse causing her eye massive trauma. Great lengths have been tried to save the eye to no avail. The eye must be removed. The day Dr. Paul Whittington, DVM came to this conclusion, another horrifying diagnosis was made: Emily's father was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer. Rescue Ranch in Belle Chase, Louisiana has rallied effort to absorb the medical costs incurred by Shooter's surgery. " The family has so much to deal with right now. The least we could do was try to alleviate some of their burden." said Lori Wilson Director of Rescue Ranch. The surgery alone is $1500 with additional bills encroaching $3000.
